Matilda P Liqueurs are part of the Victor brand, a spirits producer based on the island of Samos. The project set out to create a label system rooted in local culture, symbolism and craft, while remaining contemporary and clearly recognisable on shelf.
The visual language draws inspiration from the folk embroidery of Samos. Traditional motifs such as branches, flowers, birds and geometric rhythms are reinterpreted as bold, flat illustrations, creating a graphic system that carries cultural memory in a modern form. References to embroidery techniques like cross-stitch and xefitima inform the composition and rhythm of the labels, preserving a sense of handwork despite contemporary printing on super clear material.
Colour is used as a key differentiator between the two flavours. Yellow and deep green define Limoncello, while vivid orange characterises Orangello. In both labels, a bird carrying the fruit visually anchors each flavour to its main ingredient.
A recurring circular symbol, the Victor mother brand logo with three columns, references the Heraion of Samos and Pythagorean ideas of harmony and completion. Together, these elements form a cohesive system balancing illustration, symbolism and clarity.
