Packaging design for a range of spices and herbs provided by the brand “ Zesto condiments”
The range is targeted towards beginner cooks who follow recipes and still use measurements for addition of spices. The idea is to create a packaging that has an inbuilt measuring system so as to not use a teaspoon every time while cooking.
The packaging is designed by keeping in mind, the people who are beginner cooks and need recipes and exact measurements in order to make food. The brand is simple, bold and clean, thus representing the characteristics of spices.
Spices are quite bold and strong in terms of their flavor and aroma. This is conveyed through the entire design language of the packaging. Illustration, bold typography and colors create an impact of a different visual language in the packaging as compared to the existing ones. The shape has been derived from the sails of Arab trade ships that used to trade Indian spices to the Europeans.
The prototype is made of paper. The final material would be of tinplate as it would prevent the contents from spoilage and is durable and reusable.
What’s Unique?
The unique factor of the packaging is its reusable factor. The packaging lid acts as a measuring spoon for easy measuring of spices. The in-built measuring would help by reducing the use of constantly trying to search for a spoon, or using a different spoon for every spice. It is quite an easy way for the young audience ( age 17 – 27 ) who are just starting to learn to cook for themselves. The packaging provides ease of use for beginner cooks by letting them easily measure the spices while cooking.
The box can also be refilled for use. It also serves as an aesthetic and appealing way of displaying the spice boxes.
