Chez Dodo Macaron Packaging / Mate Mireider

Task /

Our task was to design a new brand identity and packaging for a Hungarian macaron manufacturer of our choice.

Concept /

I chose Artisan Chez Dodo, a macaron manufacture based in Budapest that celebrated its 10th anniversary at the end of 2024. Seizing the occasion, I decided to design a birthday packaging for them.

Design & Structure / 

My main idea was to showcase the steps of the macaron-making process through various illustrations on the packaging.

For the structure, I wanted something unique and special to match the significance of this anniversary. I created a box available in two sizes with multiple small drawers:

• a 3-piece version
• a 9-piece version

Both packaging versions hide a surprise flavour. You won’t know what it is until you taste it.

For the outer box material, I opted for an eco-friendly brown craft paper, which is biodegradable and more sustainable compared to traditional macaron packagings.
Additionally, the inner small boxes are coated with biofilm to prevent grease stains.

Besides the two packaging designs, I also created a flyer that visually guides customers through the macaron-making process, as well as a gift bag available in different colours.

Finally, I enhanced the packaging with a custom-designed typeface that complements the new logo, ensuring a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing brand identity.
