The goal of this project was to take an existing product and come up with a new branding system and logo for it. I chose to do the packaging for LED Party Cubes made by BigMouth Inc. Rather than redoing the branding for BigMouth Inc specifically, I decided to come up with my own brand name: “hue cube”. In my opinion the original packaging felt outdated and cluttered, so I wanted to update it and create more of a designer product.

The logo is blue to correspond with the coldness of the ice cubes. The radiating gradient reflects the light of the cubes. I decided to repeat this radiating motif on the sides of the box in each color of the ice cubes that come in the box. These work as digital abstractions of the actual cubes rather than having a photo of the product. The description on the front of the box and the view inside eliminate the need for photography. I tried to convey the fun and casual nature of the product with all the rounded corners of the shapes and the use of a rounded sans serif typeface.

What’s Unique?
The die cut on the front of the box incorporates the shape of the logo rather than using a generic shape to display the product.
