This project was focused on taking an existing business and creating a design system that could be used on a food truck, as well as food containers for the truck. Sunny’s current design is very fun and playful. The business logo includes a sun character wearing sunglasses.

While this does convey a humorous message, this logo is also cliché and makes Sunny’s look less professional. The new logo should convey a bright and light-hearted feeling in a purposeful way. I maintained the sun motif, but created it with hand-drawn elements to make it playful. Yellow was chosen to match the inside of the current Sunny’s location. The sunglass motif was chosen for use in other areas of the design instead of within the logo. I created sketches of chickens wearing sunglasses. These were used as a secondary design elements throughout the branding. Patterns from within these chickens were also used as another design element.

What’s Unique?
The packaging has a unique use of illustration. It takes hand-drawn elements and applies them to different parts of the design. It’s a playful and memorable solution to packaging and food truck design.
