Studio Blackburn rebrands The Greater Good Fresh Brewing Co
London based creative agency Studio Blackburn, has designed a new brand identity and packaging suite for The Greater Good Fresh Brewing Co, the company behind the revolutionary ‘Pinter™’. The Pinter is a world-first innovation that allows you to brew 10 pints of fresh beer or cider – all from the comfort of home. It’s affordable, sustainable and most importantly, tastes incredible.

Studio Blackburn was tasked with revitalising the company brand and creating an impactful product brand identity (for ‘The Pinter’) reflective of the Fresh Brewing™, innovation and quality that the product delivers.

The Pinter and Pinter Packs containing all the ingredients you need to make Fresh Beer are delivered straight to customers’ homes. Studio Blackburn designed all elements of the packaging – from the small bottles of yeast to the packaging of The Pinter unit itself (which measures approx. 38cm x 25cm x 22cm). Once a customer has their Pinter, they simply order more refill packs of ingredients (yeast and Fresh Press), which arrive in a custom-designed ‘letterbox friendly’ box.

Paul Blackburn, head of Studio Blackburn, said: “The Pinter is truly a world-first – never before could you brew Fresh Beer at home from around 4 days and enjoy a genuinely great tasting draught pint. Our design challenge was to effectively define an entirely new category in the world of brewing – conveying the freshness of the end product and innovative technology that delivers it. This was coupled with the very practical requirements of bespoke packaging – including a 700ml bottle of Fresh Press that fits through your letterbox!”

Mark Jones, senior designer at Studio Blackburn, said: “Working with The Greater Good was an absolute pleasure. Beer, Check. Fresh Beer, Definitely. The job entailed everything you’d expect from a branding project—logo, typography, colour palette (the OG’s)—and more. This culminated in the creation of a brand guidelines, as well as the opportunity to look at the full packaging suite—wrapping huge typography around a box (can’t go wrong). Creating a system for their Fresh Press labels, iconography, colour testing, tone of voice, tape, animated posters, web design, the list goes on… The logo system we created was split into two categories; an identity for The Greater Good company brand, giving them a completely new look and feel, in which we produced a typographic emblem and wordmark. At the same time we looked at a brand system that worked for their revolutionary new drinking machine—Pinter—for which we utilised the face of the product for its logo. When we realised the handle could be distilled down to an exclamation mark it was all systems go.”

Simon Mawbey, Head Of Brand & Marketing at The Greater Good Fresh Brewing Co., said: “We were looking for an identity that projected our mission – to bring Fresh Brewing to the world and revolutionise the way people drink at home. Studio Blackburn were a pleasure to work with, and surpassed our expectations – delivering a brand that is irreverent, impactful and human.”

The project was brought to Studio Blackburn via the network agency Hello Finch. Jemima Bird, Founder of Hello Finch, said: ‘We love working with Studio Blackburn and when The Greater Good contacted us to help them define their new identity and packaging there was only one independent agency to trust with this multifaceted project. We are delighted with the identity Studio Blackburn have created.”
