A new perspective on Spreads. Launching a product with a storytelling concept.
Notwithoutsaltt came to us with a new product range – Spread that vegan and homemade, varieties and flavors from all around the world – wanting a design concept to go with it. Several challenges made this assignment interesting.
First of all, the product’s primary target group is Healthy eaters and the young crowd. The challenge was to make something impactful for these homemade spreads to make a space in every household through the commercial shops without losing the homely essence. Secondly, the product’s important qualities obviously needed to be communicated up-front: it has no preservatives and purely made with all organic products than any of the competitors. And it combines finely chosen ingredients to get the exact taste of spreads and marinades from all around the world in interesting combinations. In short, this is a premium product.
Lastly, the product needed to be significantly different visually from traditional preserves. The client asked for designs and look and feel that stood out from the rest, but also linked to the taste of the products. We, therefore, needed to do things differently.
Our solution was to design a round label concept and give use watercolor as our medium – to make the product stand out from the competitors on shape and color. We used the origins of the place to represent the taste of the origin of the product brought to their houses. The illustration was blended with the product photo to make it look more appealing on the shelf and to stand out from the rest. . This made for a distinct photographic illustration design with a clear reference to elegant-looking labels. To enhance the sense of the premium quality we chose to produce the labels in a glossy paper stock with a mat finish. Again, making it stand out from the crowd.
The new product range is launched throughout India this Spring.
It is an eco-friendly product range the products homemade and vegan. The packaging used is a glass jar to avoid the use of plastic and help the environment. #allyumnopollution.
