Mara Rodríguez – Design has redesigned the the new range of compostable capsules from Cafés Oquendo. This new coffee format is a great advance in the world of capsules, since this new format is 100% compostable and generates 0 waste in the environment. Everything is the packaging is biodegradable or recyclable as the capsules and top lids are made of 100% compostable materials.

With this design proposal, the design studio wants on the one hand to allow the differentiation of the type of product using classic coffee elements as black color of the upper part or photography of the coffee and the capsule and we accompany it with a graphic break at the bottom part with earthy colors that transmit softness, brush finishes splashes that transmit naturalness and decorative leaves that makes us travel into nature that is the main focus of this project.

With the mixture of all this elements we have a final design that, while being elegant and attract coffee lovers, it also shows the most sustainable part of the product which will help to connect with a younger and more aware consumer.

By last, there are 3 different ranges within the compostable capsules of Oquendo coffees:

  1. A first range of classic flavors, represented with primary colors and no extra elements added.
  2. A second range of flavors associated with the origin of coffee such as Colombia or Brazil, in which we will use more saturated colors and we accompany the main composition with a characteristic animal of the area in order to clearly differentiate the two ranges on the supermarket shelf.
  3. Finally we have the Bio range, with an organically grown coffee, in whose packaging there is no black top part in order to better fit with the aesthetics of other BIO products. This is definitely a new green are on the coffee market.
