Ouzo, the world-famous alcoholic beverage, is a synonym for leisure time under the Greek sun. It’s the humble symbol of Greek summer memories and is more than just a drink. Its taste transports you to the sun-drenched beaches of Greece, the laughter of friends, and the carefree moments of summer. Just like its label, it’s a piece of nostalgia you can hold in your hands.

Noma, the Greek brand by LIDL, stands out with its unique range of hyper-local Greek and Cypriot products. The core values of authenticity, honest locality, tradition, and nostalgia are not just words but the brand’s essence, making Noma Ouzo a standout choice.

When asked to design the label for Noma Ouzo, we treated it as a Greek summer postcard, a messenger of simple pleasures and carefree moments. Our design for Noma Ouzo’s label is a tribute to the art and tradition of Mytilene, the Greek island where it originates. We’ve used local folklore xylography aesthetics to capture a moment of leisure reminiscent of the Greek summer. The back of the label is designed as a blank postcard with the sweet elements of a vintage postal stamp, inviting you to share your own summer memories.

The use of timeless classic fonts and a color scheme reflecting the product’s Greek origins further enhance its authenticity, which dates way back to the ages. The gold light of the warm summer sun is reflected with the gold foiling details on the label. The characteristic blueish color that Ouzo gets as the ice cubes gradually melt also contributes to this authenticity and is a hero element in the design.
