Annum per Annum

Trivet Design

Albania

The Collared Pratincole (Dallëndyshja e Detit) is the bird that heralds Annum per Annum.

For centuries, our lands have been home to olive trees.

The very process of harvesting olives is a ritual that accompanies us every year, Annum per Annum.

Just as birds return to their habitats during migration each year, Annum per Annum will be represented annually by a bird from the region where our olive grove is located, near the Karavasta Lagoon.

The entire process, the history, and the love with which people have been involved in it have made our work in designing the Annum per Annum olive oil label even more special.

The Karavasta and Narta Lagoons are two key sites—not just for Albania, but for the entire region—for birdlife. It is crucial that these areas are protected and preserved for the wealth of biodiversity they hold. Their beauty and importance constantly remind us to be more mindful of our surroundings, our world, and our nature, which is increasingly threatened by various factors, especially institutional ones.

The Collared Pratincole (Dallëndyshja e Detit), our bird, lives near aquatic environments and is primarily found in meadows, pastures, and agricultural lands close to wetlands. It feeds on insects, catching them in flight, helping to control harmful pests in coastal areas. The Karavasta Lagoon, part of the Divjakë-Karavasta National Park, provides abundant food sources and suitable habitats, making it a favored site for this species.

A portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold will be donated to PPNEA, supporting the conservation of the biodiversity that makes this region so unique.

A heartfelt thank you to @emialicka for entrusting us with this process and to @ppnea for their dedication to protecting biodiversity in Albania.
