Mama Juana is an alcoholic beverage that originated in the Dominican Republic. Made using a combination of rum, red wine, and honey the concoction is soaked with tree bark and over 40 different herbs to reveal its unique flavor. With option to purchase in store or to be created at home, this drink is mythically known as “Dominican Viagra” providing “energizing” effects.
My idea behind this bilingual product was to create a figure to represent the beloved drink of Mama Juana. Keeping her unidentifiable, the figure’s headdress and body movement becomes the main focus, yet the viewers’ eyes are able to travel around the package. With much research, the pattern was created to represent the “energizing” effects that Mama Juana provides while still speaking for the Dominican culture.
This package design was created with Adobe Dimensions.
