Beer by Netflix (Student Project)

This is for a university project where we were briefed to choose a brand and then design a package for an edible product that would fictionally be produced by that brand. The package design had to adhere to the brand’s image while also maintaining product recognition. I chose to design a beer family for Netflix that includes Pilsner, Red Ale, and Stout. Each one of the beers has a series of illustrations of characters that appear in Netflix Original series. The tagline for each beer is related to that series as well.

I chose to represent 3 of the most famous Netflix series which are House of Cards for Pilsner with the tagline: “Not as pale as the U.S. congress.”; Sense8 for Red Ale that reads: “Your senses will be blown away.”; and finally Stranger Things for Stout: “Even darker than the Upside-Down.”

I also adhered to the Netflix brand toolkit and used their signature colors and font family along with their card identity.

As for the naming of the beer family, “Brewed and Chilled” is a play on the famous line associated with Netflix “Netflix and chill” that has been coined by their users.

The beers are made to be sold in threes, held together by a simple three-fold cardboard caddy.

What’s Unique?
My design is made unique by its hand-drawn illustrations of the series’ well-loved characters, attention to detail, and how I managed to link the shows with the beers that they appear on. These beer bottles also have unique colors and would definitely stand out on a shelf surrounded by other brands.
