Designing in the Dark (/Light): Ora Beauty

Hair care items in “ethnic” aisles are prime examples of how the design of advertisements, packaging, and products targeted towards black people contribute to the feeling of alienation that African Americans are faced with on a daily basis. Ora Beauty, a conceptual hair care brand, solves this issue with smart, modern design and associated imagery. By changing the visuals that products for black people are wrapped in, culture can start to shift.

*This project was done as a final exhibition capstone class.

What’s Unique?
This project also addresses and solves for the harmful ingredients normally found in black hair care products.
