Istanbul-based award-winning packaging design agency Orhan Irmak Tasarım was asked to renew the brand architecture of Calve sauce packaging for Turkish market. Calve is the leading brand of Unilever for ketchup, mayo and sauces category. The range consists of a wide variety of products like barbecue sauce, curry sauce, peri peri sauce to name some.

The main purpose of the project was to target young consumers by highlighting taste and joy together on the design. As a fun element, the agency created a simple yet catchy splash illustration behind the logo. Special color combinations for the splash and the background were paired for each variant. Chosen colors play an important role in the dynamism of the brand. In the label designs, special photo shootings of the sauces were combined with the food images. Orhan Irmak Tasarım’s in-house illustration team provided the dipping effect that is a key issue for brand’s communication. Following the successful launch of the sauce series, Unilever asked to carry the new brand architecture to the ketchup and mayonnaise range, which are the main products of the brand.
