This project is a part of my college packaging assignment where we were asked to select a brand and design a more effective and sustainable packaging for their products. *(It’s a classroom project and is not commissioned by any brand)

In my 3 years of experience as a footwear designer, I got a chance to observe and learn the industry very closely. I noticed that the packaging used for footwear especially shoes has not changed from almost a century. Even big brands like Adidas and Nike use the same rectangular shoeboxes. Making a single box by hand consumes a lot of time. There is also a lot of space consumed in staking. I tried to intervene and come up with a feasible solution.

I chose Adidas as a brand for my packaging assignment. My design is a completely different shoe box which is not a box actually, it’s diagonal section of a rectangular box. A fully collapsible eco-friendly shoebox made up of recycled cardboards and papers, that fits perfectly on cutting layout and reduces material wastage. Folding pattern is so easy that a 5-year-old can also make a box out of it in less than a minute. Adhesive application is optional.

Colour scheme and graphical components are kept similar to current Adidas’s shoebox packaging in India, the only change is in placements. Printing work is all digital to give it a more premium look.

What’s Unique?
A fully collapsible eco-friendly shoebox made up of recycled cardboards and papers. It has more features than any other shoebox, it has flexible staking options, easy to carry and uses less space on the rack. It has a low manufacturing cost as it comes with a single foldable component that requires comparatively less material than other shoeboxes. Look catchy when kept in retail windows.
