The purpose of this project is to design a refreshing package for the Chinese specialty wine, yellow wine. Yellow wine in China frequently associates with older generations and cooking wine. Kin is designed to rejuvenate yellow wine and give it a modern, elegant characteristic. The name “Kin” is a homophone to the word “gold” in Chinese, which carries the meaning of “the golden liquid.” I use san serif typeface for the logo in order to make it looks younger and more globalized. For the rest of the package, the serif typeface helps to keep the sense of history and tradition of yellow wine. Two outer packages, paper carrier and wood box, are designed for the purposes of self-use and gift. I attempt to use less means to create stronger identity, and therefore, make this package stand out from other traditional yellow wines effortlessly.
