New Gösser design – Contemporary with a respected heritage

Gösser, is the leading beer brand in Austria, yet has remained untouched in the last decade. VBAT was asked to create a bold evolution of this iconic brand, reinforcing its leading position.

The creative team found inspiration in rediscovering the small town of Göss. The source hidden in the beautiful green surroundings of Styria, where the brewery was founded as part of the abbey, more than 1000 years ago.

By recovering the legacy of the brand, VBAT created a new logo for Gösser, building on the characteristic Gösser ‘G’ that has been part of the brand since 1913. The new logo includes the tagline ‘brewing tradition since 1860’ that underlines the respect and innovation mentality since the brewery founding.

Packaging and identity continue to be the heart of the brand. Honest simplicity respected by generations. The design decluttered to dial up the green colour, a brand asset that is well recognized across Austria, with the fresh white signal of the brand, connecting it to today.

Besides the lager beer, VBAT has redesigned the full brand portfolio, establishing a framework for benchmark innovation.
